Good Reasons for Hosting Your Own Blog

Tags: , , ,

Q. Host your own blog..? Why would anyone want to do that when there are plenty of well established blogging platforms that will let you set one up and operate it for free?

A: Better SEO, total control, more traffic and more sales – although those reasons won’t apply if you’re not blogging for business!

When I started out blogging I opened a blogger.com account. That worked fine for me at the time because I was new to blogging. I was such a newbie that I didn’t even realise it was possible to host my own blog.

Even if I had realised that, it’s not something I would have given a moment’s thought to. I was too new to working online. I was (still am) totally non-techie and it would have been too daunting a task.

So I happily blogged away on my blogger account until I logged on one day to find that Google had translated all the admin pages into Chinese. I live in Hong Kong so Google, thinking they were being smart, used my IP address as the basis on which to make the decision to translate it.

Not being able to find the help link (because I can’t read Chinese) I logged into my Google account (Adwords, Gmail, etc,) to raise a request for them to translate my blog back to English.

After a week nothing had happened. I hadn’t received a reply, I still couldn’t read my admin screens, and I was seriously frustrated that Google should unilaterally decide to translate my blog, so I kissed the big G goodbye and shifted my blog over to Wordpress.com.

By this time I had learned enough about blogging to have heard that Wordpress was the place to be. So with some anticipation of great things to come, I imported all my blogger posts and set about learning the new admin screens.

One thing I noticed immediately was that my posts were suddenly figuring much more quickly in the natural search results, so it looked as though at least some of what I’d heard was correct.

And I happily blogged away until…

…one day I tried to log on to be met with a notice telling me my blog had been suspended for infringing Wordpress’ terms and conditions.

DAMN..!! Twice inside a month I’d been blind-sided by my blogging platform and the second occasion was even more damaging than the first. (It doesn’t look too professional when your visitors are told that your blog’s been suspended for infringing terms and conditions).

So, finally, I was pushed into the realisation that I had no option but to set up my own blog and host it myself.

So off I clicked to Wordpress.org to see what I could find out. And I was pleasantly surprised.

Firstly – they’ve made the process as easy as possible by setting out extremely clear, easy-to-follow instructions.

There are a few minimum requirements set out, which pretty much every hosting provider meets. You can always check with your provider if you’re not sure. Mine does, so I printed off the instructions and got going.

First step is to set up the database. Easy to do – the instructions are very clear, include screen shots for every step of the way and are written in simple, non-techie language.

I then downloaded and unzipped the blog files, entered my newly created database details into the config file, (just followed the instructions), uploaded the files and accessed the installation screen via my browser (the URL is provided in the instructions). That kicked off the installation script and I was all done.

It was, literally, a 5-minute exercise.

However, the majority of hosting providers now give you an even easier method than that:

One click installation.

I’ve never done a 1-click installation so I can’t confirm whether it really is one click or whether a few more are involved – but it’s definitely very easy and it doesn’t involve any downloading, unzipping and uploading of files.

So what are some of the benefits of hosting your own blog?

You have total control. You can write what you like, you can drive traffic to affiliate programs, no one is going to translate it into Chinese, and no one is going to lose your database.

You can customise it as much as you like. Customisation is done through plug-ins, and there are plug-ins for just about anything you can think of. You decide what you want to do with your blog, then you can either go to the Wordpress plug-in directory or do a Google search for a plug-in for the function you want.

Download the plug-in, unzip it, upload it and activate it through the blog admin screens. It’s that simple. Really.

But of all the sexy things you can do with your self-hosted blog, probably the biggest benefit of all comes from the SEO elements.

This really turns your blog into an incredibly effective way of figuring strongly in the natural search results.

Optimising your blog for the search engines is simply a question of installing and activating the appropriate SEO related plug-ins. And you can find probably the best list of these in Jack Humphrey’s Authority Blackbook.

If you’ve gone to the trouble of setting up your own, self-hosted blog then you should absolutely download this book and follow the guidelines in there for optimising it properly for the search engines.

Firstly, it’s free and secondly, if you don’t set up your blog properly you’re wasting an enormous portion of its SEO potential.

It would be like buying a Ferrari but never taking it out of the city centre.

I’m now using my blog as my primary means of drawing in traffic. I haven’t spend a dime on promoting it – and I don’t have any intention of doing so going forwards.

And yet my blog is now attracting a little over 50% of the total traffic I’m getting on a weekly basis – that’s traffic to my blog plus traffic to all my other sites – and that’s almost totally due to the SEO effectiveness of my plugin-rich, self-hosted blog.

Within the next year I’m aiming for that to be well over 80%.

If you really love him, keep anger at bay and do not blow things out of proportion. This is not to undermine the cheating act but, it is to protect you from breaking over the sins of another person; think about it.

Blogs Good for Business

Tags: , ,

As you can surmise, one of the principal reasons why businesses find blogs effective as business tools is they help generate or increase sales. While there is no quantitative amount with regards to the exact monetary significance of blogging on sales, there are evidences of some sort of return on investment. Increase in sales can be and often is one of the indirect effects of successful blogging.

Imagine sitting in front of your computer with millions of people (shareholders, business partners, competitors, employees and the media) conversing about business and the like. Now imagine if you can use all the information you learned to establish what product or service your customers want, why they want it, how they want it and how much they are willing to pay for it. This is precisely what a blog is all about and much more. Definitely, blogs are good for businesses.

A blog or a weblog is an interactive website that maintains an ongoing chronicle of information. It is a regularly updated website featuring links to other articles or other websites. Generally, a blog tends to have a main content area with articles called posts or entries listed in reverse chronological order with the latest on top. Typically, these articles are organized in categories. There is also an archive of articles based on dates or go to www.instant-blog-and-ping.com. A blogrolls, a list of links to other related sites is another feature of a blog.

A blog may contain one or more feeds. Most blogs publish feeds (RSS, RDF, and Atom). A feed is a machine-readable content that is updated periodically. A feed reader displays the new post and a link to it. Most blogs also have a feature that allows visitors to leave comments. With a blog, you publish fresh content and your readers can add their own comments with links to their own blogs. Easy to use blogging tools are available, often for free. A basic blogging tool provides an interface where you can work in an easy and intuitive manner while it takes care of the rest of the logistics involved in making your blog presentable and available for the public.

Blogging, authoring or maintaining a blog, is one of the rapidly increasing growth areas of the Internet. According to popular search engine Technorati, there are roughly more than 40 million blogs on the Internet today and more blogs are appearing at the rate of 75,000 a day. This is mainly due to the numerous benefits of blogging for business.

A blog has a powerful marketing capability to grow your business, be it small or big. You can now have a commanding presence on the Web, not one based on size, capital, or resources but one based on quality of content, targeted audience and useful products and services. With blogs as equalizers, the blogosphere has become a truly exciting playing field for all businesses.

A blog is a constant source of valuable and up-to-date information. Setting up a blog allows you to showcase your expertise and establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry. A blog can be your vehicle for product or service updates or go to www.blog-link-generator.com, company news and any other information you want to relay to your targeted audience. A blog must contain relevant information, not just sales pitches; otherwise readers are much less likely to return. As with any part of a business marketing plan, a blog must contain information that appeals to its targeted audience.

A blog is an effective method to communicate with clients and prospects. It allows you to openly and regularly converse with them increasing credibility, creating trust and forming relationships with them early on. A blog with its conversational style is ideal for developing good customer relationships. Readers will feel comfortable with you long before they call you to make a purchase or avail of your service.

A blog is a great tool to get feedback from readers. Your readers can leave comments or make inquiries. A blog is a great way to find out what readers are thinking and in the process provides you with ideas or how to better serve them thus improving your business. Forming business decisions based on reader feedbacks can be one of the smartest business moves you can ever make.

Nevertheless, to be effective, a blog has to be updated frequently. Readers do not visit blogs that do not feature fresh content regularly. Keeping readers in the know with periodic posts about your business creates buzz and publicity. There is work involved in creating a blog. It takes time and commitment to write interesting and informative blog posts. But it may prove to be well-spent especially if it helps generate sales.

Sharing the Good News About South Africa

Tags: , , , , ,

At the beginning of 2008, almost as soon as most South Africans returned to their everyday lives, having enjoyed a relaxing summer holiday, the perfect storm erupted. In quick succession there has been the unanimous unseating of the country’s President as leader of the ANC in December 2007, followed by a nationwide power crisis with regular “load shedding” which started in January 2008 and which we are told this will continue until after 2010. In addition South Africans are dealing with the perceived high level of crime (perception is reality), increasingly high levels of inflation (9.4% in February 2008), petrol at the highest levels ever and according to the popular media and dinner talk, more people than ever are considering immigrating to greener pastures.

I believe that part of the reason South Africa is going through such a great deal of mass negativity at present is because South Africans are constantly bombarded with bad news. I believe that if everyone in South Africa keeps reading, talking, thinking, and worrying about the bad stuff all the time, it will end up happening because everyone is attracting it.

After the last few months one may ask “Is there any good news about South Africa?” Yes!! After digging around on the internet, I have found plenty of good news about South Africa, which I would like to share with you to help put the constant bad news in perspective:

Cheap Petrol

Although the price of petrol in South Africa has increased dramatically it is still amongst the cheapest in the world. The highest price in South Africa is the Gauteng (inland) price for 95 octane unleaded petrol which as at 2 April 2008 is R8.91 per litre. In contrast according to a survey of 9 700 petrol stations in the UK, for unleaded petrol, the minimum price in the UK is £1.03, the average price is £1.07 and the highest price £1.19 per litre. Using an exchange rate of £1=R15, this means that the average price per litre in the UK is over R16 per litre, nearly double South Africa’s price.

Cheap Housing

Housing in South Africa is still amongst the cheapest in the world. According to the April ABSA housing index the average price for middle segment housing (Residential houses nationwide between 80m2 and 400m2 ) is just R929 000. In contrast according to the BBC News Survey of UK house prices (which fell 3.6% in the last year) as at February 2008 the nationwide average is currently (Rand figures are conservatively calculated at £1=R15):

*Detached (A house not joined to any other) £342 800 (R5 142 000)

*Semi-Detached (A house which is joined to another house on one side) £200 037 (R3 000 555)

*Terraced (Streets of houses joined together in long rows) £176 732 (R2 650 980)

*Flat (A flat is part of a bigger building where all the flats share a front door) £200 967 (R3 014 505)

Lower Unemployment

According to Statistics South Africa the unemployment rate fell fractionally to 23% in September 2007—the lowest since records began in 2001. The government’s target is to cut the rate to 14% by 2014

Winning the War on Crime

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute have conducted research on the victims of crime which shows the picture of South African crime as more typical of a developing country. These statistics show that South Africa has lower rates of violent crime than many African and South American countries.

According to the South African Police Service Statistics, the incidence of most types of crime has reduced since 2001. Their latest report for the 6 month period April to September each year since 2001 reveals the following rates of incidence per 100 000 of the population:

*The incidence of murder, although still unacceptably high is clearly decreasing 2001=22.7, 2002=22.9, 2003=21.0, 2004=19.7, 2005=19.6, 2006=20.0, 2007=18.7

*The incidence of rape, is also still unacceptably high but has clearly decreased in the past 2 years 2001=55.1, 2002=52.3, 2003=51.1, 2004=53.7, 2005=55.6, 2006=49.6, 2007=47.8

*The incidence of common assault has decreased dramatically in the past few years 2001=260.1, 2002=275.2, 2003=279.1, 2004=269.4, 2005=229.5, 2006=201.6, 2007=191.4

Stock Exchange Growth

*South Africa’s stock exchange (the JSE Limited), ranks 18th in the world in terms of total market capitalisation

*South Africa’s stock exchange ALSI (All Share Index) has risen from 7510.4 on 30 April 2003 to over 30 000 in April 2008, an increase of nearly 400% in 5 years

Sporting Successes

*South Africa are the Rugby World Cup champions

*South Africa is the number 1 ranked rugby team according to the IRB as at 31 March 2008

*South Africa is the number 1 ranked cricket team according to the ICC for One Day Internationals as at 22 March 2008

*South Africa are hosts of 2010 world cup

*South Africa has 2 golfers ranked in the top 10 in the world according to the Official World Golf Ranking for Week 13 – March 30th – 2008

Competitive Nation

*South Africa ranked 44th out of 131 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2007/8

*South Africa has been ranked 28th among 108 countries measured for responsible competitiveness, according to the global think tank AccountAbility.

*South Africa ranks 52nd out of 157 countries in the world in terms of economic freedom, ahead of Italy (60th), Brazil (70th), the United Arab Emirates (74th), Greece (94th), India (104th) and China (119th), according to the Index of Economic Freedom 2007 (The 2008 Index of Economic Freedom covers 162 countries across 10 specific freedoms such as trade freedom, business freedom, investment freedom, and property rights)

Rich in Resources

*South Africa is one of the world leaders in mining and minerals, with a significant share of the world’s reserves and production.

*South Africa has, according to the SA Department of Minerals and Energy, nearly 90% of the world’s platinum, 80% of the world’s manganese, 73% of the world’s chrome, 45% of the world’s vanadium and 41% of the world’s gold.

*South Africa still has huge potential for the discovery of other world-class deposits in areas yet to be exhaustively explored.

Infrastructure Development

Since 1994, the South African government has channelled substantial resources into social programs and services, with varying degrees of success.

*Households with access to clean water: 85% in 2001, 80% in 1996

*Households using electricity for lighting: 69.7% in 2001, 57.6% in 1996

*Households in formal housing: 63.8% in 2001, 57.5% in 1996

*Households with chemical or flush toilets: 51.9% in 2001, 50.5% in 1996

*Pupil-teacher ratio: 38:1 in 2003, 43:1 in 1994

*People who have completed grade 12 schooling: 20.4% in 2001, 16.3% in 1996

*People with access to electricity: 70% in 2003, 32% in 1994

Lower Cost of Living

Despite recent inflation and price increases, South Africa still has one of the lowest cost of living levels in the world. According to the latest Xpatulator (website address below) cost of living survey of 228 global locations covering every country in the world, Johannesburg is the 71st, Pretoria is 58th, Cape Town is 51st, and Durban is the 36th cheapest place in the world to live. This means that 192 of the 228 global locations are more expensive places to live compared to Durban, while 157 locations are more expensive than Johannesburg. A detailed cost of living comparison of Johannesburg and London reveals that overall London is 74.5% more expensive than Johannesburg:

*Alcohol & Tobacco (alcoholic beverages and tobacco products) is 56.7% more expensive in London

*Clothing (clothing and footwear products) is 85.3% more expensive in London

*Communication (fixed line, internet, and mobile) is 16.18% less expensive in London

*Education (school & tertiary) is 55.6% more expensive in London

*Furniture (furniture, household equipment and household appliances ) is 51.8% more expensive in London

*Groceries (food, non-alcoholic beverages and cleaning material) is 46.7% more expensive in London

*Healthcare (general healthcare, medical and medical insurance) is 92.9% more expensive in London

*Household (housing, water, electricity, household gas, household fuels, local rates and residential taxes) is 104.3% more expensive in London

*Miscellaneous (stationary, linen and general goods and services) is 180.7% more expensive in London

*Personal (personal care products and services) is 145.2% more expensive in London

*Recreation & Culture is 4.8% more expensive in London

*Restaurants Meals Out and Hotels is 219.26% more expensive in London

*Transport (public transport, vehicle costs, vehicle fuel, vehicle insurance and vehicle maintenance) is 89.80% more expensive in London

Higher Purchasing Power

The lower cost of living in South African means that your salary goes much further in Johannesburg compared to London and most other places. Using the cost of living difference, hardship difference, and exchange rate, Xpatulator calculates that if you earn R500 000 Rand in South Africa, you would need to earn £54 182 in London in order to have a similar standard of living, much more than the £33 333 the (£1=R15) exchange rate indicates. The good news is that if you move the other way (i.e. from London to Johannesburg) and you earn £60 000 currently, you would not have to find a job paying R900 000 the (£1=R15) that exchange rate indicates. Taking into account the vastly lower cost of living in Johannesburg, you would in fact only require a salary of R552 302 to have the same buying power as £60 000 in London.

In conclusion, yes 2008 will mostly be a tough year, given the short term difficulties, but the power problems and current high inflation are short term issues which will eventually be in the past.

The main reason so many people are negative is because bad news sells newspapers and attracts more listeners and viewers. Good news does not often make the front page!!

Discover How to Build a Content-rich Site & How to Get a Good Internet Marketing Search Engine Placement Here!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

There are two major concerns for beginners in the internet marketing world. Those concerns are: how to build a content-rich site and how to get a good search engine ranking.

In order for your attempts to optimize your internet marketing search engine placement to be successful, you will need to turn your whole website into a type of billboard. You have to put keywords in every place they can be used efficiently. This is the most effective way for you to increase your visibility online. The greater the number of people searching for what you sell, the more customers you are apt to get. Keywords aren’t going to do the job alone. If they would, you could simply list every keyword you come up with and people would flock to your site. But what are they going to see when they arrive at your site? If it’s just keywords in a list, they’ll leave. That’s why it’s essential that you create a site that is both noticeable and content-rich.

The internet is all about information. Regardless of what else people want, they are searching the web for information of one type or another. With this in mind, it is your job as the online marketer and business owner to create a site full of information that will not only bring customers to your site, but make them stay there long enough for you to get their business. If information is all you are providing, a content-rich site is even more important. If the content is lousy, people won’t be back.

The best methods of making your site content-rich consist of a great deal of writing. Writing articles that will inform and entertain readers is one way. These articles need to be related to your target customer’s interests. The greater the number of short articles you write concerning the many varied aspects of the focus of your site, the more effective they will be. Adding news information will increase the site’s content richness. Information concerning some new aspect of the market will increase the value of your site. Something as simple as an interview, special report, or product descriptions will make your content better.

The last thing to keep in mind is that your content must be updated often. The same old information will become boring, so you need to keep adding new information to keep it fresh. Since keywords are what getting the most notice, the more content you have, the more chances you will have to include those essential keywords. When you update your content, be certain to add in as many keywords as possible to that content. It’s all about getting attention and making a profit, and keywords and content are the methods that will help you get where you want to be.

Next, you’ll discover how to get good internet marketing search engine placement in 8 simple steps.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), or strategy for internet marketing search engine placement, is a long procedure that is required if you want your online business to get attention and realize a profit. Without great strategy for internet marketing search engine placement, your business may look nice, but it won’t go anywhere. This is the most important way to get site visitors, so it is extremely for you to learn at least the essential steps to optimize your internet marketing search engine placement. Below are the eight basic steps you will need to put into action for good ranking in internet marketing search engine placement.

1. Learn everything you can about those who compete for your customers. Do searches regularly to keep an eye on both yours and their internet marketing search engine placement rankings and to check for any new competitors on the scene.

2. Get together a list of keywords. The lists are there for the picking, but you have to go after them. Rank your list to reflect the words that best describe your site.

3. Find ways to create phrases with the keywords you’ve listed. The more phrases you are able to include in the content of your site, the higher your results will be.

4. Change the content within your website. Alter everything from headlines to content in your entire site to make your site more likely to attract traffic.

5. Fine-tune your keyword list regularly. Realize that the internet is always changing and you must adjust your words to keep having the same impact. Make adjustments as needed to keep your place at the top.

6. Make sure that your web address is submitted to the best search engines. You don’t want to be passed over because you didn’t tell the big search engines you are there. Do this submission regularly. Knowing the most popular search engines is essential.

7. Keep a record of your internet marketing search engine placement. Just like test results, the internet marketing search engine placement you receive will let you know how well you’re doing and how far you need to go to reach the top. Use the data to figure out what works and what doesn’t and adjust accordingly.

8. Repeat Step #1 to #7 often. You will need to do these steps on a regular basis. Your competition will. Always search for new ways to get better results. Refusing to change isn’t going to get you anywhere.

This is a basically simple view of the procedure you need to follow to optimize your internet marketing search engine placement. There are definitely other ways to fine-tune your site’s internet marketing search engine placement. To get you started, however, this list will give you a decent start to higher internet marketing search engine placement and more profit.

Looking for a Good Horse Forum

Tags: , , ,

Are you a fun of horse? If yes, then a horse forum is for you. You will interact with fellow horse lovers as you get to discuss the kinds of breeds that horses come in. An online horse forum is very convenient for you. You can get to interact with people from the comfort of your space. Horses really provide great pleasure and beauty to life and it is for this reason, that forums are in place; to celebrate the lovely strong creatures. The following is a description of forums for love that I came across. First, you will discover that there are certain rules which are put in place to ensure that the forum follow a certain order. Make sure you read the rules. Rules in this case are to be followed and, it is no excuse to be ignorant of the laid out rules. Rules can be many and regardless of the topic you are discussing, you need to fully adhere. You can also read some of the forum safety regulations and you will discover that they are worth your while. The following are some of the forum rules that you will find in many discussion platforms.

In a horse forum, you should not have more than one account per person. Remember, to be a forum member, it is necessary for you to register with the forum service. Also, you should not spam. Spamming is mainly unwanted information or links for advertisements. You can spam at your own risk. Therefore, be careful not to break this rule because it is among the most important rules there are. Another helpful rule in a horse forum is that you should never be racist or discriminate others. Some people think that this is a venue to settle personal scores when it comes to race. Another rule is that you should not swear or use bad language. Everyone wants to have a nice time talking about horses and there is no reason why you should ruin this. You are also prohibited from giving out personal information. This is for your own good and, you will be protected from any predator in the forum. Another thing is that you should respect the forum that you are on. Respect is crucial and it will be pivotal in this regard.

In a horse forum, before you introduce yourself, you need to look at the forum features. Different forums come with different features. Pictures and avatars are among the many forum features that will provide you with a clue as to what to expect. Choose a forum that will come with the feature you are looking for. There are many forums for horses and they are worth checking out. You can then decide on which forum to register with. After you are fully satisfied, you can then introduce yourself to the forum. This is the point where you will get to meet some of the most interesting topics about the subject you love; horses. Discuss as much as you can and look to learn new things because horses are very surprising.

Steps for Finding a Good Internet Marketing Resource

Tags: , , , , ,

Writing through the eyes of a person still very “green’ or “wet behind the ears” to the concept of how to earn decent money as an Internet Marketer, my journey to find a good Internet Marketing resource really reminded me of shopping for new shoes.

Step #1: Off To the Shoe Store

So what is the first thing you do when shopping for a pair of new shoes, obviously you head for your local shoe stone to look around. As a “newbie” to the world of Internet Marketing, I head for my computer to look for Internet Marketing resources online. Googling this term “Internet Marketing” or perhaps a phrase like “Internet Marketing resources” is like entering the doors of a huge shoe store! For more information logon to www.website-conversion-mastery.com .The shelves, or in this case, the Internet, is jammed with all kind of products for your inspection .Each one competing for your attention and eventually your hard earned dollars.

Step #2: Browsing the Merchandise

If you are like me, I like to browse around to see what is available in my area of interest before seeking the help of the sales people. Others I know prefer to go directly to the sales people first, get advice and then browse in their area of interest. So that means steps #2 and #3, may be done in reverse order, depending on your shopping style.

So to continue, rather than walking around the shoe store, as a person interested in Internet Marketing resources you are browsing the Internet listings by clicking on various websites to read what the authors have to say, or perhaps you go to the paid advertisements and click on some of interest.

Step #3: The Sales Pitches

Sooner of later, you will seek out a shoe store clerk, or they will notice you browsing and approach you. In the Internet Marketing world, this process is often started after you read a marketing article, a product review, or a paid sales advertisement, and are taken to what is sometimes called a “pitch page” or a “landing page”. This is where someone is going to tell you all the many reasons why buying this product is going to make you very successful and rich as an Internet Marketer, it is a “one of a kind product”, “best of the best”, etc..

Just like the shoe store clerk telling you all the advantages of buying the shoes they are describing to you based on appearance, durability, level of comfort, and other features designed to make each shoe “the one you just have to have”.

Often a shoe store will have “specials” or brochures available to view as well to promote products in the store and your Internet Marketing product search experience is no different. Instead what will often happen is that some website “pitch pages” will have gimmicks to obtain your e-mail address, often in the form of a free downloadable information product related to some aspect of Internet Marketing. Often these are very good products and merchants know that we all like to “get something for free”.

Step #4: Trying On the Product
After listening to the sales pitches, either from your shoe store clerk, or visiting a number of “pitch pages” in your Internet search and reading the sales e-mails you probably have flooding your e-mail in-box, it is time to start trying on the products to see what “fits” or will work best for you. As you well know with shoes, one size does not fit all, one shoe type does not serve everyone’s purposes, and not very one likes the same color.

Step #5: Decision Time
So now we have reached biggest step, where the “rubber meet the road”, and you have to haul out your wallet, get out the cash, or credit card and buy the shoe or Internet Marketing resource that you feel is the best fit and value for you. Now here is where there is a real difference between shopping for shoes and shopping for Internet Marketing resources that greatly favors you, the consumer.

Yet in contrast you can put the Internet Market resource to the test, use it 24/7 to try and earn money, and at the end of the trial period if you are not happy simply ask for a total refund .Should you feel guilty about “test driving” products? For more information logon to www.tube-traffic.com .No way, this is all part of the way “business is done” on the Internet this day. So if you can test a product for free, take advantage of this! After all, in the end it is your money!

I hope you know have a better understanding of how finding an Internet Marketing resource is like shopping for shoes.

One final point I would like to make. When we go to buy a product such as shoes or a good Internet Marketing resource, it is often very helpful to seek the advice of others who have bought the product, reviewed the product themselves, or perhaps if we are lucky, someone who actually worked with the product. Shopping around for Internet Marketing resources and advice before you buy is certainly no different. There are many programs out there claiming to full fill this need for beginning Internet Marketers.

Narrowcasting The News Is Good For Business

Tags: , , ,

Broadcasting is the term most often used to describe the act of disseminating the news, but for some companies, narrowcasting the news may be a good business strategy.

People’s news gathering habits have changed drastically over the past few years. Businesses that use digital signage can benefit from adding a news feed to their signs. Not only will narrowcasting the news get more people’s attention, it fits right in with the way many coveted demographics (affluent, educated and under 40) get their news – on the fly and in small chunks.

Trends in News Gathering

It used to be that people got their news from their daily paper or their nightly national news broadcast. With the rise of the Internet, news seekers have shifted to online sources in huge numbers. According to an August, 2008 report by the Pew Center for the People & the Press, the changes have been dramatic:

• In 1998, 13% of the public went online for news three days a week. In 2008, that number had increased to 37%.

• In 1998 only 6% of respondents went online for news on a daily basis. In 2008, that number had increased to 25%.

• In 2008, 80% of people reported that they absorb news in some way every day. But traditional news sources (newspaper, TV networks and radio) saw their share of the news gathering audience shrink from 90% in 1994 to 73% in 1998.

What does all of this mean to companies with narrowcasting networks in their restaurants, bank branches, transit platforms and waiting rooms? People want to be informed. They want the latest news. And they are comfortable getting it from a wide range of sources, even those that might have been frowned upon as less than trustworthy a decade ago.

Including news in your narrowcasting network adds value. Instead of feeling they are being advertised to, people will appreciate the information being provided and gain a positive impression of your business.

And how does your business stand to gain? Again, we can extrapolate from the Pew Center study. The study divided groups into segments, including Integrators and Net-Newsers. The Integrators gather news from traditional and online sources. Net-Newsers rely much more heavily on online sources for their news.

It is what these segments have in common that is of most interest to creators of narrowcasting programming. They are both well-educated and affluent. Net-newsers are younger, but both groups combined represent a highly desired demographic in the eyes of advertisers.

How Narrowcasting the News Might Work in Your Business

News narrowcasting is not suited to every business. Busy grocery or department store shoppers will not stop to read news items on a digital sign. But for businesses where customers need to wait, narrowcasting the news makes sense: in a restaurant lounge where people wait for a table; in a medical office; in a bank branch; on a commuter train or subway platform.

The news feed can be incorporated as a small segment of the screen, leaving ample opportunity for your narrowcasting network to display video and images that promote your business. A balanced approach to informing and marketing will resonate strongly with your audience, and have a positive influence on your business.

Forum Marketing-How to Build a Good Forum Relationship

Tags: , , , ,

Forum marketing is a very popular way affiliates promote their websites or blogs.  Promoting on forums can be a great way to drive free traffic to your site, so you can introduce your product to interested people.  Before you start promoting on a forum, you need to know how to go about it.  Building a good relationship with a forum community is essential.  So, if you are thinking of using forums as a source to promote your website, make sure you know how to go about it and get started.

Forums are a community of sorts.  Think of them as your neighborhood and the people on them are your neighbors.  A forum is a gathering place where people come together to discuss certain topics of interest.  There is most likely a forum out there for every niche possible.  You can use these forums to get information, ask questions, make new friends, and of course promote yourself.  You don’t want to sign up at a forum site and just start promoting.  There are certain unwritten rules that you should follow when you join a forum.

Like I said earlier, a forum is a community.  The people who belong to them are a network.  They know one another and are trusting of each other.  So, it would not be a good idea to just join the forum and start bombarding it with your links for promotion.

3 Steps for Establishing Yourself in a Forum Community

1.     Register and Look Around

Once you have found a forum geared toward your specific niche. Go ahead and register an account for yourself.  Then, you should set up your personal profile.  You should take a few days to look around the forum before you start posting.  Get a feel for the forum.  Browse the posts, learn about some of the other members, and get yourself familiar with the written rules.

2.     Start Posting (Slow and Easy)

You can go ahead and start posting after you have seen how your particular forum operates.  But, don’t over do it with posts.  You don’t want to be seen as a spammer.  Spammers bombard forums with irrelevant posts, so that they will get link exposure.  You want people to take you seriously, so again, don’t over do it!

3.     Build a Respectful Reputation

Since you have started posting on your chosen forum.  You want to continue to post good and relevant posts.  Don’t expect people to automatically think you are an expert, show them.  Help people with their questions and answer them as thoroughly and as best you can.  You will get more clicks on your link, as you gain respect in your forum community.

Creating relevant and valuable posts to your forum is nessesary.  You should not post a bunch of  ”I Agrees!”  Don’t expect to establish a good reputation doing that.  You need to provide valuable information to your forum.

There are several different ways to post on your forum.  First, and foremost.  You should post an introduction.  Introducing yourself to your forum community.  Also, when there are other new people who have joined the forum, you can post to their introduction and welcome them.

When posting questions, don’t ask questions that you can easily find answers to on a search engine.  You should post thoughtful questions.  When answering questions on your forum, give as much information as you can.  Don’t post uninformative answers, as they are not going to be very helpful.  When someone else has already posted a good informative answer to someones question, you can always comment on their answer and add valuable insight.  Once again, you should not just post “I Agree!”

Once you have spent a few days or even weeks establishing yourself in your forum community, as a valuable, trusting member.  You should be able to start dropping your signature link at the end of your posts.  All forums are different when it comes to posting a signature link.  Some, let you include a link immediately.  Some, will require you to post a certain number of messages first.  Then there are ones that require you to be an active member for a specific period of time.  Make sure you read all the forum rules, so you know when to start adding your signature link.

Building good relationships and establishing a good reputation in your forum community first is KEY!  Getting clicks on your link will follow.  So go get
