The profits from these sales are split. If you have a loyal following a joint venture is easy because people want to JV with you.

Affiliate marketing is another way in which you can make money blogging. When you come across a product that is related to your blog recommend the product to your readers by linking to it. The membershipmodel:

If you own a blog that provides quality content, you can think of converting it into a membership based blog. Once you have hooked your readers on your blog content, they will find it difficult to stop reading your blog. If you make your blog a paying member’s only blog they will pay to gain access. If you have decided that you are blogging for money, do so whole heartedly. Place your Ads where people can see them, not in some half-hidden corner. If you are asking for a donation, ask loudly, don’t just leave an add or donation button sitting on your blog half-heartedly. Become Number 1 on Google Fast and Easy!

Tags: , , , ,

I got into SEO back in 1998. And I can tell you from experience, it’s changed a lot over the years. Not long ago you could use tricks like keyword spamming and fill META tags with just about anything even close to what was on your page. Even with the simplest tricks you could place highly on Google, Yahoo, and all the other biggies. That’s no longer the case.

Today SEO is about a 75% / 25% split between links and content, with inbound links being the most important thing. Especially on Google. When all is said and done, you can get to the top of Google in just two simple steps. Seriously. I’ve done it hundreds of times and it’s easier than you’d imagine.

Step 1: Develop Great Content

Writing great SEO content is a snap if you follow this simple 5 step formula…

1.) Write naturally as if speaking with a friend. Record yourself actually speaking to a friend about the topic of your Web page and it will all come together automatically.

2.) Limit each page to 2 to 3 keywords or keyword phrases.

3.) Mention each keyword no more than 4 times per page and split the usage somewhat equally between paragraphs. Two mentions of your major keyword in the 1st paragraph is the only real exception. And be sure you mention each toward the end of the page to show overall consistency and topic authenticity.

4.) Try to incorporate the first mention of each keyword into hyperlink anchor text. The link should lead to another page of your own site. (Note: The keyword would then be the clickable text leading to your other page.)

5.) Have between 150 and 250 words of text per keyword. So if you have 3 keywords on one page, you will have about 600 words on that page, in total.

That’s the quick and dirty SEO content writers course. And believe me, it works!

Step 2: Link Like the Pros (Part 1; Strategize)

Linking is a bit more involved. The main thing to remember is that you want as many high quality, topic relevant links as you can get. And you want them all using the same exact URL since Google sees URLs that begin with “http://www” differently than links that begin with just “www”. In other words, even if you have 200 links to your page, if they are split between URL formats, you are not getting full credit for the links.

And forget all that stuff about links to the homepage being “a must.” Sure, having inbound links go to your homepage is great but Google has smartened up. They figure your site overall is probably not that great if nobody bothers linking to your actual content pages. While it’s true that Google ranks pages rather than sites, they do still base each of your page’s worth on its supporting pages.

I won’t bore you with a bunch of techno babble. In short, if you keep this in mind, you’ll always be ahead of the game:

1.) Inbound links should be from pages containing relevant content of a similar nature.

2.) Links to your web pages from outside pages with high Google PageRank (GPR) are most desirable. (Note: GPR is NOT the page’s position on Google. It is a value, from 1 to 10, that Google assigns to all Webpages.)

3.) Links from (not to) a homepage are typically most valuable, unless they have a higher GPR page to link from. Focus on the GPR. If you use software like that mentioned below, it will do all this automatically. If you do it all manually, get the free Google Toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com. GPR is shown for every page (that has any) on the Internet.

4.) Inbound links to your pages should feature your keyword as the anchor text triggering the hyperlink (keyword is the clickable part leading to your page.)

5.) Do NOT use generic text for your link’s surrounding content. Make the sentence as relevant as possible.

6.) Use as many well written versions of your link’s surrounding content as possible so Google doesn’t view your inbound links as duplicate content.

Step 2: Link Like the Pros (Part 2; Do It)

As far as actually getting great links, avoid the automated script based reciprocal link services. A lot of these services link your pages to “gray barred” pages, which means your site can get kicked off Google as well. And to be honest, reciprocal links are not nearly as valuable to Google as they once were, especially the junk link pages most of these services create.

If you want to “set it and forget it” without the problems mentioned above, you might want to try a service like 3-WayLinks.com (http://www.3-WayLinks.com). Although I’m not a fan of any linking service, this one is the best I’ve come across so far. They set it up so your page links to another, which links to a third, which links to you. There is no direct reciprocal beeline back to your page and each link is counted as a one way inbound link by Google, which is the most valuable type of link.

Of course, natural linking is the way to go whenever possible. Google LOVES links that are part of page content (see the anchor text notes above.) And getting great links like this is easier than ever with the right software so don’t sweat the time or effort. Both are minimal.

The product a lot of SEO pros use (myself included) is SEO Elite, available at http://www.SEOeliteWeb.com. It works great as both a full function link building tool and ranking checker for all major search engines. Even if you don’t need the app, take advantage of the free videos on the site. They explain special linking considerations, like special reserved commands such as “allinanchor” and how to find Google “Authority sites.” You can still benefit from the information, even without the tool.

Big Tip: When approaching other sites for links, try to get your link as anchor text in the actual page content, or a margin. Also do their link that way and explain the benefits and how much Google loves this type of natural content linking.

So there you have it; everything you need to get your pages on top of Google in record time. Best of luck. You’ll do great!

Dominate Google Rankings Quick and Easy!

Tags: , , , ,

Does dominating Google rankings quick and easy sound too good to be true? It really isn’t. Following are a bunch of surefire SEO tips that have kept hundreds of my client’s sites on top of Google for years, with new ones every month.

There’s a lot to cover and I hate long articles that drone on so I’ll keep the info short and sweet. Let’s start with the domain name.

Domain Names

Age: Make sure your domain name is at least six months old. If it’s more than a year old, that’s even better. Google often (but not always) likes domains to be at least six months old before indexing the site. How do they know? They use a “whois” database like the one at:

http://www.AllWhoIs.com.

Go there and enter your domain if you want to see what Google (and anyone else in the world) can instantly know about your site.

TLD Type: TLD stands for Top Level Domain, which is to say the letters after the dot. The best ones to have are “.com, .net. .org and .edu.” These get the most play in Google’s top 3 rankings for just about every keyword you can imagine, with “.com” and “.edu” being the best.

Embedded Keywords: If you have your main keyword (and ONLY your main keyword) as a dotcom domain name with even just halfway decent page text and some good inbound links you can usually nail number one on Google for that keyword. I’ve done it dozens of times. It’s a no brainer.

Dashes: Having a dash in your domain name might be bad for branding but it can open whole new doors of opportunity for your search engine optimization efforts. You see Google treats a dash as a null value (almost like a space) and can take them or leave them with equal indifference. So if your main keyword phrase is a few words long, you can place a dash between each word. If that’s taken, just try one dash separating the first and second words but leave the second and third word grouped together. You get the idea. Just keep trying combinations until you have one that works and scoop up the domain. Even if you sit on it for six months, you’ll have it when you want it.

Now on to the next big item; keywords. The best keyword embedded domain name in the world will mean little if nobody is searching for that keyword. That said; let’s find the best keywords possible for your site. Here’s how…

Keywords:

Keywords in Demand: Let’s snoop into Google’s keyword database and find some winners. Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and enter any keyword or phrase you think your target audience is looking for. Now click on the top header link to sort by desired search volume to see which words get the most searches.

Go Long: And don’t be afraid to use longer keywords as long as they get plenty of searches. Not only will this narrow the tasks of your workload for actual optimization but it will open all kinds of new options for finding great (dash laden) domain names and even help cut back on your competition.

Narrow Your Field: Now take the top ten or so relevant keywords and phrases and list them in order of “Approximate Monthly Searches Performed.” You might want to paste the keyword into one column of a spreadsheet and the number of searches into the next column. This next part takes a bit of math so we might as well let Excel do it.

Competition:

Competition; Less is Better: “Less is better.” Well that’s the understatement of the year. But how do you know how much competition you will be up against? It’s easy. Simple division does the trick nicely. Here’s how…

Google It: Go to Google and paste in your first keyword phrase. Look in the upper right area of the page and see how many pages you will be competing against if you try to optimize for that keyword (Results 1 – 10 of about 123,000,000 for “keyword”.) Now record that number in the cell to the right of “searches performed.” You can go ahead and do the same for each keyword. When you have all the info you need have Excel divide the number of “competing pages” by the number of “searches performed.” The lower the resulting ratio; the better your chances. Your best bet is to take the lowest ratio number with the highest number of “searches performed.” This is your optimal target.

Even More: But we’re not done yet! Now find the next best two runnerup keywords and write them down in order of importance. We’ll need them soon.

Content:

The King Lives!: You’re probably sick of hearing it but content really is king. Developing search engine friendly, well optimized content (for REAL people) is key to your success. Google can read a Web page just like a person thanks to its natural text algorithm. So keyword spamming and robotic writing do not work with Google. But here’s what DOES work…

Keep it Real: Call a close friend and tell him or her exactly what you want to tell your web visitors. Then as quick as you can write it down, as close to “word for word” as you can remember. Just let the words flow. You can fix spelling and grammar later.

Fitting In: Now, with your list of three keywords, go back through your text and fit your most important keyword as close to the beginning of the first sentence as possible. Now go ahead and place your number two keyword someplace else toward the beginning of your first paragraph. Your third keyword should go into the beginning of the second paragraph if possible.

Now use only one of your keywords for each of the next three paragraphs. Try to make them fit naturally toward the beginning sentence or two of each paragraph.

Throw in a Curve: Now use a reverse order for the very last paragraph. Put your least important keyword (number 3 pick) at the beginning of the paragraph and your best keyword at the end. This shows consistency (at least as far as Google is concerned.)

Last but not least, do not repeat any keyword more than three or four times on a page. I stick with a 3 x 3 method and it works great (3 keywords each mentioned 3 times over the course of about 9 paragraphs.)

Getting Links and Monitoring Your Site:

Inbound Links: Having high quality inbound links can account for more than 75% of your search engine ranking success. Getting these links is the crucial step that will get you over the top. At the same time you need to monitor your progress and your site’s status (how search engine REALLY see it). This will tell you not just where you are – but where you are likely to be. In the old days, we had to do all of the link work and monitoring by hand. And believe me, it took a long time (I averaged about 16 hours per week; per site!) My advice is to find a good SEO tool and let it do the tough and repetitive work for you. If you get hold of the right product, it’s the best money you’ll ever spend.

I started out with WebPosition Pro and used it for a couple years but switched to another tool that has automated linking, which I find to be the most time-consuming and now most important aspect of SEO on Google. This was probably a good call since Web Position was recently banned by Google for abuse.

Anyway, here are my results for both…

http://www.SE0elite.com Cost = $167 (lifetime free upgrades and no annual fees)

Personal Results: 121 top 5 rankings on Google in 3 weeks – Mostly 1’s and 2’s. Best Features: Finds best link partners; Automates link process; Finds “Google “authority sites.”

http://www.WebPosition.com Cost = $389 WebPosition Pro or $149 Standard (plus $99 per year subscription fees for either)

Personal Results: 44 top 5 rankings in Google in eight weeks – Mostly 3’s and 4’s. Best Features: Site Monitoring (recently banned by Google); Great reporting; Site Critic

Now you’re ready to dominate Google. Good luck!

Forums A One Way Ticket To Easy FREE Traffic

Tags: , , , ,

If you are not using forums in your website now may be a good time to get started. With Google and Yahoo putting the emphasis on fresh new content, it is important for search engine optimization purposes to be adding fresh new content to your site on a daily basis. Forums can help get you that fresh new content. If done correctly you will have fresh new content added on a daily basis from your users and visitors with very little effort on your part.

Recently I have discovered just how easy it is to add a PHP bulletin board (forum) to my web site. First you need to download the script from http://www.phpbb.com . It’s a free download so don’t worry and they have a support section that explains how to install the script.

You will also need to make sure your host has PHP support and a MYSQL database configuration. In most cases this is an upgrade from your basic hosting package but the cost is minimal compared to the services that you will receive. PHP is a very powerful tool for your website.

If you don’t know anything about PHP or MYSQL, don’t worry about it. I use 2 different web host providers and in both cases the support I got was excellent. Both host providers voluntarily installed my PHP bulletin board script for me. All I had to do after it was installed was to go to my administration panel and start adding the subjects for my new forum.

Once you have set up your forum you will need to tell everyone about it. A forum is no good if there is nobody posting to it. If you have an e-mail list or e-mail a newsletter periodically, e-mail your list telling them about your new forum and inviting them to join.

One of the best ways to get new members to your forum is to use other forums. Put a link in your signature file inviting members to your forum. I currently have around 20 forums that I am a member of and try to post to on a regular basis. My signature file contains a link to my forum and to my blog. This also creates free traffic to my web site. I have heard of people who post to 100’s of forums on a regular basis just to get free traffic to their site. If you do this be very careful not to spam the forums. Only use affiliate links in your signature file. And always try to post something useful to the readers or it may be considered spam.

Once you start getting posts on your new forum from new users try to respond as much as you can. If it’s the person’s first post, be sure to welcome them to the forum and offer any assistance that they may need. The more posts on your forum the better. You don’t want people going to your forum to find nothing. It is better to have 30-40 posts all from yourself than to have no posts at all. When I started my first work from home forum I did exactly that just to get it started and I continue to add posts on a regular basis.

Eventually your forum will take on a life of its own, creating fresh new content on a daily basis, giving you better search engine rankings, and all the FREE traffic your website can handle.

Google Adsense: How to Make Easy Money With Google Adsense

Tags: , , ,

Some people think that making money with Google Adsense is hard; but in fact, it is quite the opposite. Setting up Google ads on your site is simple, and you can earn from it rather quickly.

First of all, Google Adsense is a program that welcomes any webmaster or blogger to sign up for free, and display Google ads on their site or blog.

Marketers and companies are paying Google every time someone clicks on their ad, whether it be from Google itself, or from a participating website or blog.

This is called “Pay Per Click Advertising” and it is one of the most popular forms of advertising nowadays. It is more important to have a Google or Yahoo listing these days than it is to be in the Yellow Pages. This is because the internet is more accessible and convenient for more people searching to satisfy their needs.

Companies or webmasters pay to show up (in the Google search engine) for certain keywords or keyword phrases such as “lose weight” or “make money.” They have to place a maximum bid, which is the maximum amount of money they are willing to pay for one click.

When someone does a Google search for a keyword, their ad spot shows up if they bid on that keyword. If the surfer or visitor clicks on their ad, the company or webmaster must then pay Google for the click.

Companies are bidding against each other for top listings. For popular niches, each click can be costly. That is why it is so lucrative to make money with Google adsense.

When you venture out to make money with Google Adsense, you must keep in mind that there is no adult-related materials allowed (such as pornography or racist) or offensive materials of any kind. There may be a few other restrictions regarding online gambling and other related activities.

But for the most part, it is very easy to make money with Google Adsense. Many people earn a full time income from it alone. More and more bloggers are becoming famous – and rich – due to the money they make from Google ads placed on their blogs.

In order to make money with Google Adsense, you must have a website or a blog. The difference between the two is trivial. They are both ‘websites’ – Your own website costs a small amount of money for the domain name and hosting. Your blog can be free, or it can cost you a little money too if you’re going to get a domain and host for it. Let me explain…

A blog will give you your own domain name, but it will have the blog company’s name in the URL as well. For instance, if it’s a free blog from Blogger.com, it would be something like: YourBlogName.blogspot.com. Of course, you would replace ‘YourBlogName’ with whatever you want your blog’s web address to be.

If you are in the weight loss niche, your blog URL might be something like, “LoseWeightFast.Blogspot.com.” If you want your own personal and brandable domain name (YourDomainName.com or YourDomainName.com/blog), it only costs about $8-$10 for a .COM domain name and around that same amount for a hosting account.

My suggestion is to upload your blog to your own host and give it a domain name representing your company or profile. It only costs a little more per month, but it’ll give your blog a more professional image; hence, building your reputation.

Once you sign up for a free account with Google Adsense, you can start displaying ads on your site within minutes. You don’t need to have a super popular site with millions of viewers in order for Google to do business with you, like what some people might think.

Anybody with a website or blog can sign up for a free Google Adsense account. They give you the HTML code for you to copy and paste in your website, so that ads related to your content will automatically show up on your site/blog wherever you want them to be displayed.

As far as monetizing your site with Google adsense, it doesn’t matter whether you are using a free blog or a paid one (with domain name and hosting). As long as you can drive traffic to the site, you are in good shape.

That is the name of the game by the way – driving web traffic to your site/blog. Once you have a website or blog up in the niche that you want to market to, and have added some useful content to it, you can then place some Google Adsense ads on your site and earn a decent income by driving traffic to it.

You may use Pay-Per-Click Advertising for your own sites, online classified ad sites, article marketing, press releases, video marketing, social network marketing, and other methods to generate traffic. By the way, search engines love blogs; so as long as you post beneficial and keyword-optimized content on your blog, the search engines will find it.

To recap, here are the steps:

Create a website or start a blog, sign up for a free account with Google Adsense, and place the ad code on your site. Then, advertise your website or blog using various techniques of getting traffic and exposure.

These are just the basics for learning how to make money with Google Adsense. I hope you have a much better idea of how it works and what you need to do to get started.

You can make money with Google Adsense in a multitude of ways, and it costs little to nothing to get started. You can start earning money within hours of launching your site or blog, so just do it!

Easy Steps to Make Money Through Internet Marketing!

Tags: , , , , ,

The internet is now the way for doing business and companies see significant returns by doing business online. Just as marketing strategies play an important role in the traditional way of doing business, they are equally required when the Internet is used to do business.

Internet Marketing is all about making the best use of the power of the internet to reach across to a wide audience, located across the globe. The many aspects to internet marketing include affiliate marketing, pay per click advertising, e-mail marketing, banner ads, interactive advertising, search engine marketing, article marketing, and blogging.

Through these hosts of techniques, companies can gain attention of people who surf for information about their products or services. In other words, they can reach out to a targeted audience and get a positive response from such as audience, since the people they target are the ones actually seeking their services.

Internet marketing” has a lot to offer to companies doing business over the internet and is now seen as a vital tool for business promotion. It offers a host of benefits such as:

• Customers can buy the product or service they want, at their convenient time. All they have to do is log onto the Internet, search for the relevant site, learn about products and make their online purchase.

• Internet marketing saves time and money. All the time and money resources that would have otherwise been put into ad campaigns in the T.V or through the newspapers can be put into other important business requirements, because internet marketing is not so expensive or time-consuming.

• Any company operating at a local level can move onto an international platform using the internet as a tool. Using the internet they can spread information about their products or services to national and international markets.

• The results of internet marketing are easier to track than traditional media. So, the effects of strategies used are seen immediately and this information can be used to shape business ideas.

Internet marketing is gaining popularity because of the advantages it offers to businesses trying to reach out to customers using the internet. If we must understand the benefits offered by internet marketing, we need to see how it actually works in an example.

As an example, let’s see how internet marketing can be applied to a website to promote it across the internet. If a company wishes to popularize its products and services across the internet, it requires a good website. This means the site must look good and present information in a clear and concise manner. It should have tools by which user can easily navigate the site and it should have security features in place for visitors to make purchases safely.

Above all these measures the website must be search engine friendly for it to turn up in top listing during searches. This includes placing the right keywords in the contents and using link popularity services to promote the site in search engines. It is all these strategies put together that will make the site popular over the internet.

The objective of Internet marketing is to increase traffic to your website, thereby promoting sales. Affiliate programs, pay-per-click, behavioral targeting, latent semantic indexing, targeting at the right audience, are all steps which form part of the internet marketing strategies that promote this objective. If a company adopts just the right mix of internet marketing strategies, their popularity in the internet rises and they see a constant stream of visitors. Much of these visitors turn into qualified leads and sales, which helps them in turn to achieve business objectives.

However, there are some issues of concern in the area of internet marketing. One main limitations is that technologies which process payment (though they seem very reliable) have yet to fully advance and emerge and fool-proof systems. Shopping over the internet nothing like real shopping, where you can actually feel the goods you want to buy before you buy them and as a result no matter what strategies you use, the internet is really not the place to sell certain goods which really need touch and feel before purchase. If a company were to design a large and complicated website, a user with a slow internet connection can’t have the shopping experience the site can actually give them and this is a turn-off for the visitor.

Above all these concerns and in spite of the popularity of television and other media, internet marketing is being widely used to sell products and services, because the internet is playing a vital role in spreading information to people across the globe. It is the new way to reach out to a wider audience and in course of time will be as much used as television, radio and other forms of advertisement by businesses to promote themselves to potential customers across the globe.

How to Create a Blog in 10 Easy Steps

Tags: , , ,

Step 1: Choose Your Passion

What does passion have to do with it? I just want to make money!

Well making money might be a good reason for starting a blog and money CAN be made, but in the end creating and maintaining a blog that is going to last is more about your passion or your driving force. Ask yourself this question;

“What would I do everyday, for the rest of my life, without ever being paid to do it?”

Whatever answer you come up with is your passion. That is what your blog should be about; YOUR PASSION. That is what you should be blogging about. Write for yourself before you right for someone else. Money and fame are just icing on the cake.

See, when you first start writing your blog, there most likely WILL NOT be any money returned from your time investment. Making money is usually a result of long hours invested in gaining subscribers and avid readers and becoming known as an “expert”. You might decide to monetize your blog, but without people reading your blog, how are you going to make money?

Remember this:

THERE ARE NO GET-RICH-QUICK SCHEMES RELATED TO BUILDING AN A+ BLOG!!!

Sorry to dash your dreams but if you are looking for the “key” to riches beyond your wildest dreams, then please go somewhere else; you won’t find it here.

Step 2: Write Down Your Goals

Most likely if you write down your goals those goals will happen. This is because making yourself actually think about what you want to accomplish is half of the battle already won.

“Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail.” ~ English Proverb

What do you want to accomplish? How are you going to deliver your message? When you are finished, what is it going to look like?

Step 3: Visit Some Other Blogs

Do some research and check out what other people are doing with their blogs. Learn what blogging is in general. Don’t just search for blogs in your niche, but also in general. There is alot to be learned from others that have already put up there own blogs. Posts some comments so that you can start to get a feel of what the whole blogging process is. While you are researching be sure to bookmark those blogs that you have visited and write down interesting ideas that pop into your head. You might not remember where you have been only a day or two earlier.

Step 4: Choose a Blogging Software

There a bunch of options when looking for your blogging software. I would start by doing a search on Google for Blogging Software. Don’t be intimidated by the 62,000,000 + results returned back to you. :)

For the scope of the article, I am going to talk about WordPress (http://www.wordpress.com). I chose WordPress for my blog not only because it is the most popular, but also because it is backed by a huge community, has some really useful plugins, gives you loads of control and is easy to use. You can either signup for at www.wordpress.com or find your own hosting provider to host the blog for you. If you are new to blogging then signing-up at www.wordpress.com might be your best bet. There are many of bulit-in extras like stats that track your visitors that are beneficial. Best of all it is FREE!!

Step 5: Buy a Domain Name

Buying a domain from a domain registry such as GoDaddy will make your blog appear more professional. Choose a domain name that not only fits your blog’s purpose but also has keywords in it. For instance, if your blog is about gardening, then choose a domain such as “MyGardeningBlog.com” or “My-Gardening-Blog.com”. The .com, .net, .org, etc extension is not important although .com extensions are generally recognized as the default.

Step 6: Customize Your Blog

Customizing your blog is very easy with WordPress. If you choose to host your blog with www.wordpress.com then you can choose from dozens of pre-installed templates. You can also Search Google for additional templates that are either FREE or low cost for around $45 a template. If you find a template that is not provided by the hosted service then you can simply upload the new template to your account. The control panel that comes with the hosted service is very easy to use.

If you are daring enough to modify the template by hand you can do so. WordPress is built in a web site scripting language called PHP. If you are not familiar with PHP then this route is not for you. You can, however, find additional resources online either at the WordPress website or by doing a Google search.

Step 7: Install Helpful Plugins

WordPress is easily expandable by the use of “Plugins”. Plugins are little pieces of software that are created by a 3rd-Party developer that accomplish simple tasks such as helping you manage your Google Adsense(http://www.google.com/adsense) ads or backing up your WordPress installation. There are many plugins to choose from and you can search for them at www.wordpress.org.

Step 8: Write Your “About” Page

When you are ready, you can describe the blog and its purpose in an “About” page. Be as descriptive as you can about the target audience and what you will be providing in the blog.

Step 9: Start Posting to Your Blog

This is actually the hardest part. If you have done your homework on what your passion was and you did some research, then you most likely did some blog posts in your head. Don’t sweat coming up with great and astounding ideas or intricate essays. Remember the KISS method and Keep It Simple Stupid! (OK I had to break this rule for this article but you know what I mean…)

You have to remember who your audience is in general. Most people read blogs rather than other forms of information because they are short and to-the-point snippets of information that can be easily digested. I think this is just normal human behavior in a conventional society. There is far too much information on the internet and too little time to try to consume it all. Blogs satisfy our normal curiosity like small little squares of chocolate would satisfy our sweet-tooth.

Step 10: Marketing (and maybe Monetizing) Your Blog

Since you have been blogging your little heart away, wouldn’t it be nice if people actually read it? Here are a few ways, among many, to go about marketing your blog.

Google Website Submittal(http://www.google.com/addurl/) - This allows you to easily add your new blog (or website) to Google. I also suggest you submit to Yahoo and AltaVista and any other search engine or directory you can find.

Google Adsense and Adwords – Adwords allows you to advertise on Google and Adsense allows you display ads on your blog that match your content. If any visitors to your blog click on the advertisements you get paid for it. What a concept!! Be sure to check the other suggested affiliates and ad networks under the “Money Makers” section of this blog.

Google Sitemap – This is a FREE plugin for WordPress that you can install that will create a Google Sitemap of your blog that can be used to allow your blog to be better indexed by Google.

FeedBurner – Another plugin and service that is FREE that allows you to do some really neat things with your blog’s feed. The feed of your blog is what allows someone to subscribe to your blog. It is a file that contains all of your posts in a specific file format called RSS that an “aggregator” (or “feed reader”) such as Google Reader can read and keep track of. You would want to use an aggregator because it keeps track of the different blog feeds that you have subscribed to and allows you to read those blog feeds all in one place. Although you do not need FeedBurner to allow your blog to be subscribed to, it has some really great features that you need to check out.

Comments – Visit alot of blogs and subscribe to them. Try to be the first to leave a comment with a link back to your blog.

Forums - Forums are the same way. Just be careful that you are truly leaving a comment about the thread and not just trying to advertise your blog.

Signatures – When you leave a comment or send an email make sure you use a signature that has your blog address.

Write Articles – Turn you blog posts into an expanded article that you can put on a tutorial or eZine (Electronic or Online Magazine) website such as ArticlesBase.com(http://www.articlesbase.com). Make sure to add a link back to your blog.

Word of Mouth – Don’t forget to tell the people you know about your new blog and keep them updated on what is going on. Ask them to become subscribers to your blog.

I hope you have enjoyed this introduction into the world of blogging and I hope that you find your passion. Please be sure to comment on this blog post and leave me some feedback. Also be sure to ask me any questions that you might have. I will be glad to help you in any way that I can.
